C'mon Barbie, let's go...to the movies.

C'mon Barbie, let's go...to the movies.

You may have noticed a wave of pink rolling over this summer via social media or posters in the subway. We are in the Summer of Barbie thanks to a sizzling new film coming out on July 21st, 2023. Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as the classic Barbie and Ken, the film is reportedly set to address the existential crisis of existing in the 21st century.

It's not a time to panic, but it is a time to get your credit cards in order because you need to get prepared for the Barbieness of it all.

You will need an outfit. Possibly several outfits, plus shoes accessories and a sense of purpose. One thing about Barbie, she always has a sense of purpose, no matter what she's up to.

Clothes:

You have to decide what kind of Barbie you're going to present as. Will you be casual romper Barbie in this little Scoop NYC pink floral number? Or Business Boss Barbie in a vintage 90s David Meister skirt suit? Or  go straight to the Disco Party Barbie aesthetic with this 80s inspired pink and black minidress? Personally, I'd pick all three and some more besides. You need options.

Accessories:

Once you've decided on your look, you're going to need accesssories. Guess what? We have those right here!

Let's start with this adorable little Barbie pink crossbody ($20). You could wear this with a range of daytime looks. If you're not big on pink but want to be in on the Barbie wave, this works just as well with edgy black or all white. I love the idea of an electric blue outfit with just this perfect hit of happy go lucky pink.

Add in pops of Barbie joy with retro pink sunglasses ($20), a stack of necklaces($25) or a charming enamel heart pin ($10).

Every Barbie princess needs a crown, and these go with any shade of pink you feel like bringing. Try a pearl encrusted headband ($45), or sparkly rhinestone hairband ($30), or a lusciously shimmering gold lame' topknot headband ($25).

See you in Barbieland!
